In 2018 Karrinyup Little Athletics Club is fortunate to have four parents who have attained coaching accreditation with Athletics Australia plus a previously accredited coach who offers a wealth of knowledge and experience gained over four decades of athletic coaching.
All of our coaches are volunteers who are dedicated to assisting your children becoming competent and confident Little Athletes.
The coaching team at KLAC is always keen for parents to put up their hands and lend a hand by informally assisting at training sessions. Or, perhaps you would like to take it a step further and enquire about the path to accreditation. Please feel free to speak to anyone of our coaches for more information.

COLLEEN PEKIN
A former athlete herself, Colleen first joined Little Athletics as an Under 13 at Geographe Districts in 1969 and brings a wealth of experience to the coaching team for the 2020-21 season. Colleen was a bronze medalist in both the 200m and the 4x100m relay at the 1978 Commonwealth Games and also won bronze in the 100m at the 1982 Commonwealth Games. Colleen became involved with coaching Little Athletics when her children joined Sorrento in the 90's and held the role of Head Coach for many years at that time. Colleen looks forward to returning to coach Little Athletics as a new generation in the family sees her granddaughter now competing for the club. |
ASHLEY CLEMENTI - LEVEL 2 ACCREDITED COACH
Ashley was a former Little Athletics athlete, reaching State champs in long and triple jump, sprints, hurdles and relays, and also played cricket and footy. As an adult, Ashley achieved a spot in WAFL for South Fremantle. A life member at KLAC, Ashley enjoys coaching throws and assisting athletes with common errors in the fundamental technique, and has developed strategies to progress kids out of the incorrect habits. With four kids of his own, Ashley has first hand experience in how unique each child is and brings this to his coaching. Ashley finds the most rewarding part of the role is seeing kids with a willingness to learn have a go and achieve personal bests. DAMIEN INGLIS Damien started assisting coaching in high jump in 2016 when his daughter Isabella began her first year in Little Athletics at Karrinyup LAC. His athletics experience extends back to competing in Little Athletics in South Australia for the Henley Districts Club. Damien represented his club at the state level and won gold in the 100 metres and silver in the hurdles. He also represented South Australia in cricket (SAPSASA) and played in a country tour against New South Wales, and Victoria, ending the tour with the highest score of 146 not out. Damien moved Queensland in his senior years of school and finally finished in Perth, Western Australia in Year 12. He represented each high school in 'A' grade interschool competitions for cricket, soccer and athletics (focusing on 100 metres and high jump). Damien loves the concept of our children coming together in enjoying and learning new skill sets and activities together. He finds a rewarding experience in giving back some knowledge and experience to help the kids develop towards adulthood. |
